Ireland A routs Nepal A by 21 runs in ODI Opener

Ireland A has registered a 21-run win against Nepal A in an unofficial ODI cricket tournament underway in Kirtipur on Wednesday.

Nepal A was bowled out for 136 runs in 25.3 overs while it was chasing the 158-run target set by the opponent.

To restrict Nepal A from reaching the target, Matthew Humphreys took the highest five wickets including three maidens conceding 32 runs. Similarly, Liam McCarthy grabbed four wickets giving away 29 runs.

Chasing the target, Shahab Alam made the highest 37 runs followed by Dev Khanal with 26 runs while Basir Ahamad and Rijan Dhakal contributed 12 runs each. The other batsmen could not achieve significant runs.

Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Ireland A notched up 157 runs losing all wickets in 38.3 overs.

Cade Carmichael topped the score with 51 runs including four fours off 77 deliveries followed by Neil Rock with 39 runs. Similarly, Peter Moor made 21 runs and Stephen Doheny and James McCollum contributed 12 runs each. The other batsmen could not achieve double-digit runs.

To restrict Ireland A to 156 runs, Kamal Airee took the highest four wickets including one maiden over giving away 21 runs. Shahab Alam and Mousom Dhakal grabbed two wickets each while Rijan Dhakal claimed one wicket for Nepal A.

Matthew Humphreys is declared the Player of the Match.
