Finance Minister Barshaman Pun has appealed to American businessmen to come to Nepal for investment.
In an interaction with officials of the US Chamber of Commerce held in Washington DC on Tuesday night (according to Nepali time), Minister Pun said that Nepal is an attractive destination for international investors.
He said that due to its landlocked location, Nepal is the only country that can connect India and China, which are becoming the two emerging economies of the world, so it is a suitable destination for foreign investors.
Nepal's strategic location as a landlocked country between India and China, both emerging giants on the world stage, makes it a unique bridge for trade and investment, said Minister Pun, and added that this position creates a wealth of opportunity for foreign investors.
Pun further said that there are good investment opportunities in energy, tourism, agriculture and information technology sectors in Nepal. Stating that the government has a clear policy to protect private sector investors, Pun mentioned that Nepal can be a rewarding destination for international investors from the point of export incentives and flexible tax policy.
He went on to say that the foreign currency reserves of Nepal have reached a high point in recent times, and that the economic activities have started to increase.
Reminding that the Third International Investment Summit is going to be held on April 28 and 29 with the slogan 'Emerging Nepal', Minister Pun shared that the investment board will exhibit 133 projects including hydropower production, transmission line expansion, tourism, agricultural production and information technology, and expressed hope that leading American private companies will participate in this key event.
Highlighting the upcoming Third International Investment Summit scheduled for April 28th and 29th, themed "Emerging Nepal," Minister Pun shared that 133 projects spanning various sectors including hydropower production, transmission line expansion, tourism, agriculture, and information technology will be showcased. He expressed optimism for participation from leading American private companies in this key event.
Minister Pun said that Nepal's investment summit could be an opportunity for the US private sector. Nepali Ambassador to America Sridhar Khatri, senior vice president of the US Chamber of Commerce for South Asia, Atul Kashyap, and distinguished businessmen and the Deputy Assistant Administrator of the Bureau for Asia Anjali Kaur participated in the event.
