Nepal and Qatar have formed a Joint Business Council (JBC), a chamber of private sectors, to promote bilateral trades and cooperation between the two countries.
The Federation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Chandra Dhakal and the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) President Al Thani signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the establishment of Joint Business Council in the presence of Qatari Emir Al Thani and Prime Minister of Nepal Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ amidst ceremony held at Soaltee Hotel.
The JBC will work towards promoting bilateral trade, investment, tourism and the technology, reads the agreement.
Similarly, FNCCI President Dhakal said the JBC will promote cooperation and bolster the bilateral trade between the two countries.
“ The JBC has been established with the objective of promoting cooperation and assistance between the private sectors between Nepal and Qatar. It will play an instrumental role in attracting the investment of Qatar, a lucrative destination of Nepali migrant workers. The JBC will continue working to benefit from the prosperity of Qatar,” said Dhakal.
Dhakal further said the Council will help bring the Qatari investment in hydroelectricity, tourism infrastructure, information technology and agriculture processing.
After signing the agreement, QCCI President Al Thani said the establishment of the Council will strengthen the bilateral trade and investment.
There is a high demand of agricultural products, medical herbs and spices in Qatar.
