Newly elected member of the National Assembly, Dr Anjan Shakya, has taken the oath of office and secrecy on Sunday.
Dr Shakya, who is also the former Nepali Ambassador to Israel, took the oath of office and secrecy from National Assembly Chairman Narayan Prasad Dahal amidst a ceremony held at Singha Durbar this afternoon.
President Ramchandra Paudel on April 18 nominated Shakya as the member of the National Assembly on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.
Handing over a logo of the lawmaker, Chairman Dahal congratulated her on being appointed as the lawmaker of the National Assembly and expressed optimism that she would work toward taking the image of the National Assembly to a new height.
After being sworn in as the member of the National Assembly, she vowed to throw her heart and soul into work for the best interest of the people and the country.
A member of the UML’s foreign affairs department, she had also served as a member of the National Planning Commission during the then premiership of KP Sharma Oli.
