CPN (UML) candidate Suhang Nembang has widened the lead with 1,115 votes as the counting of votes is completed in Phakphokthum Rural Municipality.
According to the latest vote count results, Suhang has received 4,413 votes. His closest rival, Khadka of Nepali Congress, has received 3,258 votes.
The difference between Nembang and Khadka is 1,115 votes.
Similarly, independent candidate Dakendra Singh Thegim has received 963 votes. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate Milan Limbu is trailing with 645 votes.
The Nepali Congress took the lead in the initial phase of the vote counting which started from Sunday noon. NC candidate Dambar Khadka was ahead in Ward 1, 2, and 3.
However, since the counting of votes in Ward 4 started, CPN (UML) has started taking the lead.
Nembang, who took the lead with a margin of 345 votes against his closet rival Khadka in Ward No. 4, has been widening the margin of votes since then.
In the previous local elections, UML had won Ward 1, 2, and 3 while Ward 4 had been won by Nepali Congress. Ward 4 was taken as the stronghold of Nepali Congress. However, it seems that the NC is not able to save the votes it had received 17 months ago.
