Ghanashyam Bhusal, who quit CPN-UML for the second time, has announced to contest upcoming federal elections from Rupandehi-1 as an independent candidate.
Speaking at a press meet organized at his residence in Tolottama, Rupandehi, Bhusal said he would contest upcoming polls as an independent candidate without using election symbols of any parties.
No sooner Bhusal announced to quit the UML than CPN (Maoist Center)’s Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda urged him to contest polls with the election symbol of the Maoist Center.
“We will support you with all our might. We won’t field any candidates against you. Take part in the elections with my party's election symbol. I have already talked to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and comrade Madhav Kumar Newpal about it,” Bhusal quoted Maoist Center Chairman Prachanda as saying.
Bhusal, however, said that he would contest the elections as an independent leftist candidate backed up by the ruling alliance.
Candidates of different political parties are filing their nominations at the respective offices of the chief returning officers today.
The provincial and federal elections are set to be held on November 20.
