Newly elected Member of Parliament (MP) Suhang Nembang is taking the oath of office and secrecy today (Wednesday).
Speaker Devraj Ghimire will administer the oath of office to MP Nembang at the Hall of Agriculture, Cooperative and Natural Resources Committee in Singha Durbar at 11 am, sources have said.
On the occasion, Ghimire will also confer a logo of the House of Representatives on Nembang who was elected as a lawmaker through the by-election held in Ilam Constituency 2, representing CPN (UML).
Suhang is the son of late UML Vice Chairman Subas Nembang. The by-election was held after Subas Nembang who had been elected from Ilam 2 passed away on September 12, 2023.
UML had fielded Suhang Nembang, the son of Subas Nembang, as the candidate in the Ilam 2 by-election.
Suhang was elected with 27,772 votes by defeating his rival Dambar Khadka of Nepali Congress by a margin of 5,830 votes.
