CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has filed his nomination from Jhapa-5.
Chairman Oli filed his nomination at the office of the chief returning officer of Jhapa-5, his home district. Similarly, the ruling alliance has fielded Khagendra Adhikari of Nepali Congress (NC) to contest the elections against Oli in the constituency.
Oli and Adhikari had vied for the post in the general elections held in 2074 BS. Oli had been backed by the CPN (Maoist Center) while Adhikari had fought the elections without support from other parties.
While Oli was elected as a member to the House of Representatives (HoR) with 57,139 votes, Adhikari managed to get only 28,297 votes.
In the local level elections held in Jhapa-5 on May 13, UML had got highest 41,619 votes followed by NC with 22,022 while Maoist Center notched up 10,788 votes, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (8,353) and CPN (Unified Socialist) obtained 1, 988 votes.
