South Africa made it to the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup by defeating host West Indies.
In the match held on Monday morning, South Africa clinched a three-wicket win over West Indies under the DLS method.
With this loss, both the host teams have crashed out of the ICC World Cup.
South Africa and England have entered the semi-finals from ‘Group B’. Organizing teams –West Indies and America – have made their exit from the Super Eight itself.
The match was reduced to 17 overs due to rain while South Africa was chasing the 135-run target set by West Indies.
When the match was reduced to 17 overs, the target came down to 124 runs. South Africa reached the target in 19.1 overs losing seven wickets.
Tristan Stubbs made the highest 29 runs, followed by Heinrich Klaasen with 22 runs while Marco Jansen scored 21 runs and remained unbeaten. Similarly, captain Aiden Markram hit 18 runs.
On the bowling side, Roston Chase hit the highest three wickets while Andre Russell and Alzarri Joseph have claimed two wickets each.
Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, West Indies notched up 1135 runs losing eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Roston Chase hit a half-century followed by Kyle Mayers with 35 runs. Andre Russell and Alzarri Joseph scored 15 and 11 runs, respectively.
In reply, Tabraiz Shamsi took the highest three wickets while Marco Jansen, Aiden Markram, Keshav Maharaj and Kagiso Rabada grabbed on wicket each.
