A majority of members of parliament (MPs) have removed Ranjita Shrestha (Chaudhary) as the parliamentary party leader of Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP).
A PP meeting of NUP decided to appoint incumbent chief whip Gangaram Chaudhary as the PP leader after removing Ranjit from the post, who is also the party chairman.
Ranjita is the wife of Resham Chaudhary, the founder leader of NUP.
MP Ganga Chaudhary, Arun Chaudhary and Lalbir Chaudhary (father of Resham Chaudhary) voted to remove Ranjita from the post of PP leader.
Lalbir Chaudhary has been given the responsibility of the chief whip after Ganga has been promoted as the PP leader.
However, Lalbir Chaudhary did not disclose the reasons behind removing Ranjita as the PP leaders of the party. “We do not speak anything more regarding this issue,” Lalbir said, “Ranjita is also out leader. We just did a reshuffle.”
He further said that the detailed information about it will be revealed once Prime Minister Prachanda reforms the cabinet.
