Three kids killed, one missing as flood washes away their house in Rukum West

Three children have died and another went missing in a flood that occurred in Rukum West on Monday night.

They were killed after their house was washed away by the Tatopani and Jhinchaur rivulets induced by incessant rains at 11:30 pm yesterday.

The deceased have been identified as eight-year-old Hitmaya Pun of Athbiskot Municipality-12, Dhanisa Pun, 5, and Manisha Sarki, 4, said Mayor Rabi KC.

Other seven people sustained injuries in the flooding.

The injured are 10-year-old Bijaya Sarki, Anisha Pun, 22, Janak Khatri, 29, Mansari Pun, 65, Meksan Pun, 4, Dhanmaya Pun, 20, Kalpana Kami, 65, according to KC.

The casualties took place after the rivulets swelled up by incessent rains entered the settlement on Monday midnight. Forty houses have been in jeopardy due to the floods.  

The injured are being treated at a local hospital while the bodies of the deceased are being taken out.
