Newly appointed Attorney General Ramesh Badal has taken the oath of office and secrecy on Thursday.

Chief Justice Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha administered the oath to newly appointed Badal amidst a ceremony held at the Office of the President in Sheetal Niwas a while ago.

Ramchandra Paudel on Wednesday appointed Badal of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-7 as the Attorney General in accordance with Article 157 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal.

The Attorney General, the legal advisor to the government, is appointed by the President on the recommendation of the Prime Minister.

This is the second time Badal was appointed to the post of Attorney General on the recommendation of Prime Minister Oli.

The post was lying vacant after previous Attorney General Dr. Dinmani Pokharel tendered his resignation following the formation of the new government.

Badal had become the Attorney General for the first time on March 19, 2021 during the premiership of Oli.

He tendered his resignation from his post on July 13, 2021 after the Oli-government collapsed following the mandamus issued by the Supreme Court and Sher Bahadur Deuba was appointed as the new Prime Minister.
