The government led by Prime Minister KP Oli is going to pick Senior Advocate Ramesh Badal for the post of Attorney General.

This is the second time Prime Minister Oli is appointing Badal to the post of Attorney General.

“Prime Minister Oli is appointing Ramesh Badal as the Attorney General. However, it is yet to be decided officially,” a source close to the Prime Minister told Nepalkhabar.

The Attorney General, the Legal Advisor to the government, is appointed by the President on the recommendation of the Prime Minister.

Previous Attorney General Dr. Dinmani Pokharel tendered his resignation after the new government was formed. The President has already approved his resignation.

Badal had become the Attorney General for the first time on March 19, 2021 during the premiership of Oli.

He tendered his resignation from his post on July 13, 2021 after the Oli-government collapsed following the mandamus issued by the Supreme Court and Sher Bahadur Deuba was appointed as the new Prime Minister.
