Japan and the Netherlands shared points in the FIFA World Cup 2026 match played last night.
Japan held the relatively strong Netherlands to a 2-2 draw in their Group ‘F’ match held at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, USA on Monday night.
The Netherlands controlled most of the balls in the first half but failed to score. The Netherlands took the lead in the 51st minute of the second half with a goal from Virgil van Dijk.
Japan equalized the score after Keito Nakamura scored an equalizer for Japan in the 57th minute.
Crysencio Summerville scored for his team in the 64th minute, giving the Netherlands a 2-1 lead.
Japan equalized the game again in the 89th minute with a goal from Daichi Kamada. After that, neither side scored a goal.
The Netherlands have reached the World Cup final three times, in 1974, 1978 and 2010. However, they have finished as runners-up in all of them.
Japan made their first appearance at the World Cup in 1998. Since then, Japan have participated in every World Cup.
While Japan sit 18th in the FIFA rankings, the Netherlands are ranked 8th.
