Co-hosts Canada secured their first-ever FIFA World Cup victory, crushing 10-man Qatar 6-0 at BC Place Stadium to climb to the top of Group B.

Star striker Jonathan David took center stage, netting a spectacular hat-trick with goals in the 29th, 48th, and 92nd minutes. Cyle Larin opened the scoring in the 16th minute, setting the tone for the home side's absolute dominance.

Qatar's struggles deepened in the 33rd minute when Homam Ahmed received a straight red card, reducing them to 10 men. Exploiting the advantage, Dylan Saliba struck Canada's fourth goal in the 64th minute, before a 75th-minute own goal by Mohammed Al-Mannai made it 5-0.

With four points from two matches, Canada lead Group B on goal difference ahead of Switzerland. This historic win marks Canada's first World Cup triumph across three tournament appearances.
