Minister for Foreign Affairs Shisir Khanal visited the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), in Beijing on Monday morning.
Following the visit to the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, Minister Khanal briefed officials from both Nepali Embassy and representatives of Chinese authorities.
"During the briefing, he emphasized the need for deeper collaboration between the two sides in relevant fields," the Foreign Ministry of Nepal mentioned on X.
Foreign Minister Khanal is currently on a four-day visit to China at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.
Upon his landing at the Beijing Capital International Airport on Sunday morning, Minister Khanal was welcomed by Mrs Roshan Khanal, Chargé d’affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing, alongside senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.
In the afternoon yesterday, the Foreign Minister attended a welcome reception hosted in his honor by the Embassy of Nepal, where he interacted closely with members of the local Nepali community.
Minister Khanal is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with his Chinese counterpart Wang at 5:45 pm today (local time). During the meeting, the two ministers will discuss strengthening Nepal-China relations and mutual cooperation, according to the Foreign Ministry. In addition, he will also hold various meetings with high officials of China.
Minister Khanal will also participate in the investment conference organized by the Nepali Embassy in Beijing with the aim of attracting foreign investment into the country.
Khanal will return to Nepal on June 17.
