Nepali Congress Province Assembly leader of Bagmati Province, Bahadur Singh Lama, has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Bagmati Province.
Province Chief Yadav Chandra Sharma appointed Lama to the post in line with Article 168 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal.
Chief Minister Lama will take take the oath of office and secrecy on Wednesday, informed Parliamentary Party leader of UML Bagmati Province, Jagannath Thapaliya.
Lama, earlier in the day, submitted the claim to Province Chief Yadav Chandra Sharma with the support of 64 lawmakers including 27 from UML and 37 Nepali Congress of Nepali Congress.
Province Chief Sharma had called on the parties to stake a claim for the post of Chief Minister with the support of two or more than two parties by 5 pm today (July 23) after the Prachanda-led government collapsed.
Nepali Congress is the largest party with 37 lawmakers in Bagmati Province Assembly.
In the 13-member cabinet, seven ministries including Chief Minister and Finance have been allotted for NC while UML has taken six ministries including Physical Infrastructure.
While UML has finalized ministers and their portfolios, NC has not been able to finalize the names of ministers except the Chief Minister.
