It has been revealed that the Saurya Airlines plane that crashed at the Tribhuvan Airport on Wednesday morning was flying to Pokhara for its maintenance.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, the Pokhara-bound Bombardier CRJ-200 aircraft with 9N-AME call sign crashed shortly after it took off.
Gyanendra Bhul, information officer at the CAAN, informed that the plane that took off from runway 02 of the airport at 11:11 am crashed on the east side of the runway 20. Nineteen passengers were on board the 50-seater aircraft, according to Bhul.
Senior Superintendent of Police of Kathmandu Valley Police Office Dinesh Raj Mainali informed that Captain Manish Shakya was rescued from the crash site.
He was rescued and taken to KMC Hospital for treatment. He has sustained injuries to his eye and can speak. The rescue operation is underway, police said.
