The Jomsom-Pokhara flight service has resumed from today after a hiatus of two months.
The air transport service from Pokhara, the capital of Gandaki Province, to Jomsom Airport in Mustang, a tourist district, was suspended from July 1 due to bad weather.
Chief of Jomsom Airport, Keshav Lamsal, informed that after two months, Summit Air has operated five flights today.
“The weather has improved. The Pokhara-Jomsom air service has been restarted as the tourist season is about to start," he said, adding that the aircraft of Tara Air, a sister company of privately-owned Yeti Airlines, is set to commence flights from September 3.
Chief Lamsal said that 90 people entered Mustang via five flights today.
The resumption of air travel has given a relief to residents, pilgrims, and tourists in Mustang, who were facing difficulties due to landslides on the Beni-Jomsom road.
In the event of road closures and flight cancellations, helicopter travel is the only alternative, but it's expensive.
