Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Kumar Thapa has accused the government of being more concerned about popularity than solving the problems of the people.

Speaking at the party mechanism review of the government's 100-day and 100-point program organized at the central party office in Sanepa, on Sunday, he made such allegations.

He commented that the government's working style is limited to creating buzz on social media by creating a sit-in situation for the citizens. President Thapa also accused the government of creating a dozer terror in human settlements without alternative management, even though it is the responsibility of the state to solve the issue of the landless.

"This government is more concerned about likes than life. We find that the government prioritizes 'likes' over citizens' lives," he said. "Since I was a member myself and worked as the coordinator of the committee during the constitution-making process, I remember the discussions that took place at that time. Whenever we have written about the rights of Dalits. We have written separately about the special rights that landless Dalits will get. Now the government has created a sit-in situation by bulldozing human settlements."

Thapa also said that it was positive that the government would apologize to the country’s Dalit community. He also further said that Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s decision to conduct governance reform work from Singha Durbar was a modest but positive sign.
