Bobby Singh Shah who was arrested on the charge of murdering Nepali student Muna Pandey in Houston in the US State of Texas was produced in court on Tuesday.
According to the local media outlets, the court refused to release 51-year-old Bobby Shah on bail. The state prosecutors claimed that the clothes worn by Bobby Shah bore some stains of blood even if he was arrested two days after the incident.
The prosecutors in the court stated that Muna Pandey had three gunshot wounds to her body and rear part of her head had one bullet injury.
Muna was found shot dead on her rented apartment at West Airport Boulevard in Houston on August 26.
The Houston Police had recovered a CCTV footage of a suspect exiting the apartment of Muna.
Based on that footage, the police apprehended 51-year-old Bobby Shah from north-west Houston traffic stop.
The 262th State District Court has charged Bobby Shah with capital murder and is currently doing time in Harris County Prison.
Meanwhile, Muna’s friend Deependra Kunwar has revealed that an unknown person had been chasing Muna for the past one year.
Pandey, who originally hails from Bhojpur, a hilly eastern district of Nepal, had gone to America to pursue her bachelor’s degree. She had been enrolled in a nursing program at Houston Community College.
Muna’s mother Anita wants to travel to America to attend her daughter's funeral in the US but she is facing financial difficulties.
Meanwhile, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to cover Muna's mother's travel costs to the United States and to help with Muna's funeral expenses.
The fundraising campaign seeks to collect US$ 50,000 and appeals to one and all for their generous support to this end.
