The Houston Police has arrested the 'killer' of 21-year-old Nepali student Muna Pandey who was shot dead in her rented apartment in Houston in the US State of Texas.

The murder suspect has been identified as 51-year-old Bobby Singh Shah, informed the Houston Police on Thursday night.

Earlier on Wednesday, the police had made public footage of the suspect leaving the rented apartment of Pandey. The police have claimed that the man seen in the footage is none other than Shah. However, his address and the reason behind the fatal shooting of Muna have not been disclosed yet.

Shah was arrested during a traffic stop on Wednesday evening, in northwest Houston in a coordinated effort, the Houston Police has said. He was subsequently booked into the Harris County Jail.

Muna was found shot dead in her apartment at West Airport Boulevard in Houston last Monday evening. She had sustained three bullet injuries to her chest and was lying prone on the bed.

Pandey, who originally hails from Bhojpur, a hilly eastern district of Nepal, had gone to America to pursue her bachelor’s degree. She had been enrolled in a nursing program at Houston Community College.

Pandey, who had previously lived with friends, had recently started staying alone in a rented apartment.

Muna’s mother Anita wants to travel to America to attend her daughter's funeral in the US but she is facing financial difficulties.

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to cover Muna's mother's travel costs to the United States and to help with Muna's funeral expenses.

The fundraising campaign seeks to collect US$ 50,000 and appeals to one and all for their generous support to this end.

Anita, the grieving mother of Muna, had appealed to the concerned authority to bring the assailant to justice at the earliest and deliver justice for her only daughter.
