Five-time world champions Brazil were held to a 1-1 draw by Morocco in their opening Group C match of the 2026 World Cup on Sunday morning.
Despite entering the tournament as strong favorites, Brazil struggled to find a winning edge against the 2022 World Cup semifinalists.
Morocco shocked the favorites by taking a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute, thanks to a goal from Ismael Saibari. Brazil answered back when superstar Vinícius Júnior scored the equalizer to make it 1-1 in the 32nd minute.
Neither team could find the back of the net for the remainder of the match, forcing them to share the points with one point each.
