Qatar and Switzerland drew 1-1 in the match of the FIFA World Cup 2026 held on Saturday night. Both teams drew 1-1 and shared points.
Qatar managed to collect their first point in World Cup history after Boualem Khoukhi scored in the fifth minute of injury time.
Qatar had a good chance to score in the third minute of the game when Swiss defender Manuel Akanji made a mistake. But Qatar wasted the opportunity to score after Edmilson Junior's shot was saved by Switzerland goalkeeper Gregor Kobel.
Switzerland took the lead in the 17th minute of the game by scoring the first goal. Breel Embolo scored from the penalty spot to give Switzerland the lead.
But captain Khoukhi scored in the fifth minute of injury time to level Qatar at 1-1.
Qatar played the World Cup for the first time since they became the host country in 2022. However, Qatar was defeated in three games without scoring a single goal.
Qatar, which won the Asian Cup twice in a row in 2019 and 2023, scored their first-ever goal in the FIFA World Cup.
