Chobhar Dry Port hinges on timely completion of Kathmandu-Terai Fast Track (photos/video)

The Chobhar Dry Port, which was constructed in 2078 BS, has been importing a large number of electric vehicles, of late. It has imported around 10,000 electric vehicles in the last six months alone.

While vehicles from China are cleared at border points, those from India are primarily cleared at the Chobhar Dry Port.

"Unless the construction of the Kathmandu-Terai/Madhesh fast track is accomplished, the customs sector will not come into full operation," said Ashish Gajurel, Chief Executive Officer of the Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Committee, "We are awaiting the completion of the Kathmandu-Terai fast-track."

There are eight dry ports under the Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Committee.

The Chobhar Dry Port, built with a Rs 1.5 billion World Bank loan, aims to connect the federal capital with the import and export activities of the country.
