Ruling parties are making preparations to remove Deputy Speaker Indira Rana from her post for allegedly not remaining compatible with her office.
The ruling parties are making preparations to lodge a proposal to remove Rana from her post at the House of Representatives saying that ‘her conduct is not compatible with her office’ in line with Article 91 of the Constitution of Nepal.
Article 91 (6 c) of the Constitution has laid down a provision that the office of the Speaker or Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives shall become vacant if a resolution is passed by a majority of two-thirds of the total number of the then members of the House of Representatives that his or her conduct is not compatible with his or her office.
CPN (UML) Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula has said that Deputy Speaker Rana has to step down arguing that her conduct is not compatible with her office.
Ripples have been created in the political spectrum, of late, after the ruling parties geared up for removing her from her post. She had been appointed to the post on the quota of Rastriya Swatantra Party.
