Manakamana cable car based in Gorkha is resuming regular operations from today after a hiatus of almost two months.

Nepal's first 'cable car' operated by Manakamana Darshan Pvt. Ltd. will now use 'digital' technology. The cable car service was stalled from July 15 for upgrading and replacing the main wire.

Ujjwal Sherchan, Deputy General Manager of Manakamana Darshan Pvt Ltd, informed that the work of converting the cable car, which had been operating through 'analog' technology for 26 years, into 'digital' technology has been completed.

He said that converting into digital technology was completed under the supervision of engineers and technicians of the Doppelmayr Group, Austria.

The cable car came into operation on November 24, 1998 for the convenience of the pilgrims visiting Manakamana Temple, a famous religious place in Sahid Lakhan Rural Municipality, Gorkha.
