Prakash Man Singh Raut appointed as Chief Justice of Nepal

President Ramchandra Paudel has appointed Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

According to a press note issued by Shital Niwas, Raut has been appointed by President Paudel this morning.

"Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Nepal by the President in line with Article 129 (2) of the Constitution on the recommendation of the Constitutional Council," reads the press note issued by Shital Niwas this morning.

Raut will be administered the oath of office and secrecy today itself.

Outgoing Chief Justice Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha on Saturday retired on the ground of 65-year age limit.

Raut was appointed to the vacant post.
