A vehicle heading to Rukum West carrying passengers from Nepalgunj met with an accident in Salyan, leaving 16 injured on Thursday morning.
According to Resham Bahadur Khatri, the spokesperson of District Police Office, Salyan, the vehicle, Lu 2 Kha 5002, rammed the side wall after it went out of control due to break failure at Kumakh Rural Municipality-3, Guleri at 4 am today.
Sixteen people sustained injuries in the accident, District Police Office, Salyan said.
The condition of four passengers among those injured is said to be critical. They have been referred to Nepalgunj for treatment.
The vehicle driver is absconding following the accident, the police said.
Injured are Trilochan Giri, 33, of Chaurjahari Municipality-1, Rukum, Santosh Rana of Kumakh Rural Municipality-3, Salyan, Basanta Bharati, Geeta Budha, Bishnu Chand of Kumakh Rural Municipality-1, Ghanashyam KC. Similarly, Paras Bharati, Samjhana Bharti, Hari Sunar, Binodnath Yogi, Binitanath Yogi, Salina Shahi, Deepaknath Yogi, Sujata Budhathoki and Bindu Lamichhane have been injured in the accident.
