President of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and former Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane has been arrested.
A team of Central Bureau of Nepal Police apprehended former Home Minister Lamichhane from the Banansthali-based central party office of RSP for investigation on his alleged involvement in the misuse of funds from Suryadarshan Cooperative.
Lamichhane was arrested from the premises of the central party office, Banasthali by the CIB team amidst protests and slogans by the party cadres against Prime Minister KP Oli. A large number of RSP cadres and leaders had gathered on the premises of the party office after the Kaski District Court issued an arrest warrant against him.

Lamichhane briefly addressed the gathering before surrendering himself to the police. Lamichhane is being taken to Pokhara.
The Kaski District Court granted a permission to the police to arrest RSP President Lamichhane for investigation on his alleged involvement in misusing funds from Suryadarshan Cooperative.
The Kaski District Court has been investigating the case filed against Lamichhane on his alleged involvement in the misuse of funds meant for Gorkha Media Network from Suryadarshan Cooperative in collusion with Gitendra Babu (GB) Rai, the chairman of the cooperative.
The District Police Office, Kaski earlier in the day on Friday had asked for permission for the arrest of Lamichhane.

In response to the demand of the police, the District Court, Kaski issued the arrest warrant in accordance with the Section 9 (3) of the Criminal Procedure (Code) Act, 2017, stating that the reason for the arrest appears to be reasonable.
Along with Lamichhane, the arrest warrant has been issued against 14 individuals including Bishal Tamang, Nabin Achhami, Rabina Rimal, Asharaf Ali Siddiqui, Dipak Lama, Ananta Babu Rai, Ram Bahadur Khanal, Debendra Babu Rai, Bigyan Rai, Om Prakash Gurung, Bir Bahadur Ranabhat, Deepa Neupane and Kalpana Kumari Shrestha.
