A Nepali Army squad has launched an investigation into a Vistara Airlines Airbus that recently arrived in Kathmandu from New Delhi following reports of a potential bomb on board.
The search inspection has been intensified by security personnel after a bomb was rumored to be planted inside the 157-seater airbus that landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport at 4:30 pm.
Acting on a tip-off that the bomb had been planted inside the airbus, a bomb disposal team of the Nepali Army has reached the TIA and is carrying out an inspection.
The bomb disposal team has started x-raying the luggage of the passengers. It is likely to take six hours to complete the inspection, SSP Dambar BK, the spokesperson at the Airport Security Police Office told Nepalkhabar.
The flights to and from TIA have been affected following the rumor of the bomb threat.
The planes have been grounded on Tuesday following reports of bombs planted in 54 flights by Indian media outlets.
Indian news agency PTI has reported that several Indian airlines including IndiGo, Vistara, Air India have received bomb threats.
