City of Hong Kong
The Government of Hong Kong has fully eased restrictions to travel to the Asian financial hub from Wednesday, reported South China Morning Post (SCMP).
Previously, travellers were issued the city's amber-colored health code upon arrival and kept under three days observation during which travelers were banned from entering major places in the city. Travelers had to test negative for COVID-19 after three days to move about the city freely.
However, with the latest move, travelers can freely travel through the city on sole condition that they test negative on arrival.
The Hong Kong government's latest move has provided respite to tens of thousands of travelers moving in and out of the financial hub from all parts of the world.
From Wednesday onwards, travelers would be given blue-code on their helath app which will allow them to freely wander the streets of the Asian financial hub.
Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu on Tuesday announced the new measures before his weekly meeting with the Executive Council, his key decision-making body, reported SCMP.
Lee also said that from Wednesday, residents would not need to scan QR codes with their “Leave Home Safe” app to record visits to premises, but restaurant patrons and entrants to designated venues still need to present their vaccination records.
Health authorities recorded 14,717 cases on Monday, of which 5 percent, or 704 cases, were imported.
