The social media platform, 'TikTok' has been officially registered at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on Tuesday.

The popular social media application has been registered as per the Section 3 (1) of the Guidelines for Regulation of the Use of Social Media - 2080 BS. As per the provision, individuals, companies or organizations who wish to operate a social media platform must register themselves at the Ministry in accordance with the Guidelines.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers on October 24 had decided to list TikTok.

The ministry had issued a statement urging all social networking sites operating in Nepal to register as per the Guidelines. Accordingly, along with 'TikTok', 'Viber' and 'We Talk' have been registered at the ministry.
