Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) is being shut from 9:30 pm starting today.
The TIA will remain closed from today night to facilitate the infrastructure development, including taxiway construction, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).
The airport will remain closed froma 9:30 pm to 8 am, the CAAN said. This new schedule will remain effective until March 31, Gyanendra Bhul, the Deputy Manager of the CAAN, said.
Meanwhile, the number of flight schedules have been curtailed due to the shorter operating hours. According the CAAN, 30 percent of flights have been curtailed at the TIA.
Previously, the TIA operated 20 hours a day, from 6 am to 2 am.
