Major General Pradeep Jung KC has been promoted to the post of Lieutenant General. A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Thursday promoted KC to the post on the recommendation of the Nepali Army.
One of the two posts of the Lieutenant General was lying vacant after Ashok Raj Sigdel was promoted as the Chief of Army Staff of the Nepali Army on August 28, with the appointment effective from September 9.
KC had been recommended for the post almost two months after the post of the Lieutenant General lay vacant. Prior to this, a week-long period had also been provided to the general public seeking complaints against KC. After no complaints were lodged, the government promoted him to the post.
KC, who was working as the Division Commander of the Mid Division of the Nepali Army, Hetauda, until recently. With the promotion to the post, KC will retire on December 1, 2026.
Born on December 1, 1968 in Kathmandu, KC had joined the Nepali Army in 2044 BS.
KC, who was promoted to the post of Major General on December 23, 2021, was promoted to the post while his tenure was about to expire.
He will get promotion to the post of Vice Chief of Army Staff after Lieutenant General Nirmal Kumar Thapa retires.
