Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba.
Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba has left for China in preparation for Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's visit.
She left for China on Thursday afternoon and is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with her Chinese counterpart Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Chengdu on Friday evening.
The two ruling parties -- CPN (UML) and Nepali Congress -- are not in agreement on the implementation plan for the Chinese project Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The main coalition partner Nepali Congress has already given a clear message that the proposed BRI implementation plan is unacceptable.
A joint task force is also working to create a common understanding between the two ruling parties on the BRI Frame Work Agreement.
Foreign Minister Rana, however, has denied that there are differences among the ruling alliance parties.
Talking to media persons at the Tribhuvan International Airport before leaving for China, she said, "The differences of opinion have been created by the media. Leaders in the ruling alliance have formed a task-force to move forward with unity, discussions are taking place, accordingly. There have been no differences so far."
Asked whether the BRI implementation plan will be signed, she said, "That is a matter of negotiation. In foreign policy, both countries have their say. There will be negotiations. Let's see what happens."
