The by-election held today for 41 vacant posts across the country has been completed in a peaceful manner.
Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Thapaliya informed Nepalkhabar that the by-election was conducted in a peaceful manner and 62 percent of votes have been cast.
"Sixty two percent of votes have been cast in the by-elections today," according to a press note issued by the Election Commission.
The by-election was held for 41 posts including one mayor, one deputy mayor, two chiefs of rural municipalities, four deputy chiefs and 33 ward chairpersons across the country today.
Earlier, Tek Raj Bhattarai and Tika Kumari Chaudhary of Nepali have been elected unopposed as the chiefs of District Coordination Committee, Okhaldhunga, and Kailali, respectively.
Similarly, Jagat Gharti of CPN (Maoist Center) has been elected unopposed as the ward chair of Putha Uttarganga Rural Municipality-2 of Rukum East.
A total of 376 candidates from 20 political parties and independents are vying for the 41 posts in the by-elections.
The by-election which kicked off at 7 am today has been over at 5 pm.
