NC's Rajendra Baniya elected Kirtipur-4 chair

Nepali Congress has won the post of ward chair of Kirtipur Municipality-4.

Rajendra Baniya of Nepali Congress has been elected as the ward chairman with 742 votes, the Election Commission said.

His closest competitor independent candidate Pawita Khadka Adhikari secured 495 votes while Maoist Center's Narayan Bista received 287 votes.

In the previous elections, Khadka's spouse Shyam Kumar Adhikari had been elected as the chair of Kirtipur-4.  Following Adhikari's demise, his wife Khadka contested the by-elections.

CPN (UML) has become fourth in the by-election. UML's candidate secured 153 votes while RPP's Bijesh Basnet got 87 votes.
