Chitwan Rhinos has defeated Kathmandu Gurkhas by 5 wickets in the second match of the ongoing Nepal Premier League (NPL) 2024.
Chasing the 112-run target set for it by Kathmandu, Chitwan reached it in 17.1 overs at the cost of 5 wickets.
Santosh Karki made the highest 28 runs including 2 fours and 1 six off 31 balls followed by Luc Benkenstein with 22 runs. Similarly, captain Kushal Malla, Ravi Bopara and Sharad Vesawkar contributed 11 runs each.
On the bowling side, Shahab Alan took the highest 3 wickets while Gerhard Erasmus and Dan Douthwaite 1 wicket each for Kathmandu.
Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Kathmandu notched up 111 runs losing nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Sumit Maharjan made 29 runs followed by Michael Levitt with 25 runs while Dan Douthwaite and Shankar Rana 19 and 16 runs, respectively. The other batsmen could scorer significant runs.
In reply, Sohail Tanvir grabbed the highest 5 wickets while Rijan Dhakal, Kushal Malla, Amar Routela and Luc Benkenstein took one wicket each for Chitwan.
