Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has reiterated that he will hand over the helm of the government to Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba after 18 months.
Answering the question "whether his tenure as the Prime Minister were extended," upon his arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport on Thursday from China visit, Prime Minister Oli responded angrily terming it as "an old worn-out question."
He responded, "How often shall I answer the same old redundant question? My tenure might be around 18 months. I will then hand over the helm to Sher Bahadur Deuba. He will run the government for one and a half years. He will conduct the next general elections, as per the agreement reached between the two parties."
He further said that the all parties will try to win majority. "Every party including CPN (UML) is hopeful of garnering majority. If UML secures majority of seats, it will form the government again. If not, there might be other options," said Oli.
Oli further shared that there had been no loan-related agreements reached between Nepal and China during his China visit.
Talking to journalists upon his arrival at the TIA, Prime Minister Oli said, "Whatever Nepal has received from China is not a loan. It has nothing to do with loans," dismissing the reports of loans. "Separate agreements will be signed for each project between the two countries in due course."
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli arrived in Kathmandu, wrapping up his four-day official visit to the People's Republic of China.
Leading the Nepali delegation, Prime Minister Oli had left for Beijing on December 2 for the China visit, at the friendly invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
While in Beijing, Prime Minister Oli met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, held bilateral talks and oversaw the signing of various agreements including a framework agreement on Belt and Road Cooperation in presence of his Chinese counterpart Li.
The Prime Minister also delivered a keynote speech under the theme of Comprehensive Democracy: A Journey towards ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’ at a program organized in Peking University in Beijing. He also addressed the 'Nepal-China Business Summit' on Wednesday.
