Constitution to be amended in consensus of political parties: Deuba

Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the constitution would be amended in consensus with the political parties.

Talking to media persons at Biratnagar Airport today, he said talks would be held with the parties and consensus forged, as two-thirds majority is required for amending the constitution.

The NC President and former Prime Minister made it clear on the occasion that no loan-related agreement has been signed under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's recently-concluded visit to China. He thanked PM Oli for this.

Stating that people have no grievances towards the present coalition government, he said the coalition between the country's two big parties has helped maintain political stability in the country and in taking the nation ahead towards prosperity.

He said the party's general convention will be held on the stipulated date and the new leadership of the party chosen through election. NC President Deuba has arrived here to attend the party's province-level conference to be held in Biratnagar tomorrow.
