Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel and visiting US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu have held a meeting at the Finance Ministry in Singha Durbar on Monday.
During the meeting, US diplomat Lu and Finance Minister Paudel discussed the effective implantation of projects being run in Nepal under the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), bilateral cooperation, development finance, Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), and investment mobilization in the private sectors.
"The meeting discussed the exchange of cooperation, the implementation of the projects under the MCC and USAID," said Finance Joint Secretary Dhaniram Sharma," The meeting also touched upon the investment in the private sector under the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and discussed ways to make it more effective."
During the meeting, Finance Minister Paudel urged visiting diplomat Lu to extend additional American assistance to Nepal for economic prosperity saying that there is a political stability in the country.
US Assistant Secretary of State Lu expressed happiness that Nepal has managed to maintain economic growth and stability despite the economic difficulties of some countries in South Asia. He said that the US is in favor of providing more financial assistance to Nepal in the coming days.
