Janakpur faces first defeat at the hands of Sudurpaschim in NPL

Sudurpaschim Royals has clinched a 72-run win over Janakpur Bolts in the ongoing Nepal Premier League (NPL) 2024.  

Janakpur was bowled out for paltry 51 runs in 12.1 overs while it was chasing the 124-run target set by Sudurpaschim.

To stop Janakpur from reaching the target, Harmeet Singh, Dipendra Singh Airee and Ishan Pandey grabbed 2 wickets each while Saif Zaib, Naren Saud, and Scott Kuggeleijn claimed 1 wicket each for Surdurpaschim.

Joshua Tromp's 13-run score was the highest for  Janakur while the other batsmen could not reach double-digit runs.

Earlier, invited to bast first after losing the toss at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Surdurpaschim notched up 123 runs losing 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Binod Bhandari topped the score with 33 runs including 3 fours and 1 six followed by Saif Zaib with 17 runs while Ishan Pandey and Brandon McMullen contributed 17 and 11 runs, respectively.

On the bowling side, Kishore Mahato grabbed the highest 4 wickets while Harsh Thaker claimed 1 wicket.

This is the first loss ever faced by Janakpur in its fifth match of the NPL.

Conversely, Sudurpaschim clinched the fourth victory, by clinching a 72-win over Janakpur.

With this, both the teams have won 4 matches and lost 1 match each, climbing atop the points table.
