The National Transmission Grid is set to construct the Tamor-Dhungesanghu 220 kV transmission line through a public-private partnership.

The grid company is going to construct the transmission line in collaboration with the producers.

The project, which has a length of 32 km and a 220/132 kV substation, is estimated to cost about Rs 3.8 billion.

Currently, about 70 ropanis of land have been acquired and other expenses will be capitalized in the yet-to-be established company.

Similarly, 74 percent of the shares will be held by the producer company and 26 percent by the grid company.

The main source of income of the project will be generated through the respective producer companies for using the transmission line to transport their power (wheeling charge).

The government has adopted an integrated policy of generating 13,000 MW of electricity by 2030 and 28,500 MW by 2035, and transmitting, distributing, consuming and exporting it.

The ministry's study has shown that the transmission system will require capital of Rs 600 billion by 2030, Rs 700 billion by 2035 and Rs 910 billion by 2040.
