Troops of Nepali Army and Indian Army participating in the 16th edition of Nepal-India joint training exercise at Saljhandi in Rupandehi on Friday.
The 16th edition of Nepal-India joint military training exercise titled 'SURYA KIRAN-XVI', has begun at Nepal Army Battle School in Saljhandi of Rupandehi district on Friday.
Division Commander of the Mid-Western Division of Nepali Army Major General Yam Prasad Dhakal inaugurated the sixteenth edition of the joint military training exercise amidst a program.
The exercise is focused on evolution of combined drills for planning and conduct of tactical operations at unit level in counter terrorism operations and disaster response mechanism in general and role of armed forces in management of disaster, according to India's Defense Ministry.

The Indian ministry in a statement said that participants will be training together to develop inter-operability and share their experience including counter insurgency and counter terrorist operations and also on humanitarian relief operations.
The Nepal-India battalion-level military exercise is conducted alternately in Nepal and India. In September 2021, the training took place in Pithoragarh, India. It will continue until December 29.
