Japanese ambassador pays courtesy call on Minister Chaudhary

Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, Maeda Toru, has paid a courtesy call on Minister for Agriculture, Forests and Environment, Gita Chaudhary.

During the meeting held at the Ministry today, they discussed the matters about development and modernization of agriculture sector and further strengthening bilateral relations between Nepal and Japan, according to the Ministry.

Lauding the support of Japan to Nepal's development endeavors as the important and trustworthy development partner of Nepal since 1954, Minister Chaudhary expressed gratitude towards Japanese government and JICA in horticulture development and seeds improvement projects.

The Minister expected support of Japanese government for the construction of systematic regional agriculture market and establishment of high-technology dairy processing plant, requesting for Japanese envoy's initiatives to promote Japanese investment and technology in seeds, organic pesticide and compound fertilizer production in Nepal.

Stating that more than 300,000 Nepalis living in Japan have strengthened relations between the two countries at people's level, Minister Chaudhary expressed the belief that Nepal-Japan economic cooperation, trade and investment would take a new height during the term of Ambassador Maeda.

Discussion was held on collaborating in 'Learn and Earn' program for students studying agriculture, agro research, modernization in paddy cultivation and collaboration in modern agriculture system, among others, added the Ministry.
