Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba has reiterated that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) Cooperation Framework was based on grant.

Answering the questions raised by lawmakers in the meeting of the International Relations and Tourism Parliamentary Committee held in Singha Durbar on Monday, Minister Rana claimed the Nepal government did not sign any agreements with China for loans.

"I have told Chinese Foreign Minister that Neal's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is in 'death servicing'. We are not in a position of taking loans, currently," said Minister Rana, "Hence, we expect only add and grants from China."

Rana further shared that all the projects included under the BRI Cooperation Framework signed between Nepal and China will receive additional funding.
