The teachers, guardians and people's representatives here have made collective efforts to increase number of students in a community school by adopting English medium for teaching and learning.

The Baijanath Basic School has been catering education in English medium from grade one to eight. With this, the number of students has increased, said Principal Amar Singh Mahara.

He added that they were successful to bring in the students who went to private schools and paid high fees earlier.

Both the students and teachers are strictly directed to maintain discipline as timely attending and running classes. The students mandatorily participate in PT before morning-prayer.

With the emulation of best practices of the private schools, we are now successful to make overall development of the school, said Mahara.

Cultural celebrations and festivals, such as Holi and Deusi Bhailo (played during Tihar festival) are also organized to generate internal income for the school.

Moreover, the kitchen mess has a cook and assistant who prepare and serve mid-day meal managed from the school's internal income.

Water boring system has been put in place by the Bhagawati Community Forest to ensure drinking water facility in the school. The forest users group has also provided six computers and internet service to the school.

The local ward offices have been paying two teachers recruited from private source.

Ward Chairperson Bahadur Singh Mahara shared that efforts were coordinated with other agencies for budget management to take forward school's activities.

According to him, volunteer teachers were also arranged for additional tuition to the weak students.
