All community schools got textbooks: Ministry of Education

The students enrolled from Grade 1 to 10 in the community schools across the country this year have been provided with textbooks.

In a press meet organized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology here today, the Ministry shared that over 2.3 million students from Grade 1 to 5 and over 2 million students from Grade 6 to 10 were provided with textbooks.

The Janak Education Material Centre (JEMC) printed over 10.5 million text books for students from Grade 6 to 10 while over 10.1 million textbooks were outsourced from private press for students from Grade 1 to 5, it was informed.

The Ministry, however, appealed to the community schools if they are still facing shortage of textbooks.

Secretary at Ministry, Ramkrishna Subedi, said due to positive intervention on the part of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Chief Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi, parliamentary committee and Commission for Investigation on Abuse of Authority, text books were delivered to the community schools in a timely manner this academic year.

Centre's Managing Director, Anil Kumar Jha, said that the Centre was ready to print and distribute educational materials for Grade 1 to 12 for on time for next academic session too. It is due to increased production capacity, he added.

Similarly, Director General at the Curriculum Development Centre, Baikuntha Aryal, said clarification was sought from the Athrai Publication and Oasis Publications for their wrongdoing and process to bring them to book had been initiated.

Both publications were found changing the outer cover of the changed syllabus and printing the same old contents in the inner pages and distributed to schools.

According to Director General at the Centre for Education and Human Resource Development, Chudamani Poudel, the local level administrations were had been taking the lead in students enrollment campaign and timely distribution of textbooks.
