Although the police initially claimed that they did not fire in the clash, Taplejung Chief District Officer Netra Prasad Sharma today admitted that firing had taken place.
Morang Police Chief SP Narayan Chimaria informed that coordination is underway to take two of the injured to a well-equipped hospital on an army helicopter.
The injured are currently undergoing treatment at Nobel Hospital in Biratnagar.
Chief District Officer Sharma claims that among the injured, Dharma Palungwa of Phungling Municipality in Taplejung was injured while fleeing.
Locals (pro-identity groups) have been protesting the construction of Pathibhara Cable Car, vehemently arguing that it will negatively impact the local economy, particularly hotels and restaurants and express concern that it may disrespect the goddess Pathibhara, which they prefer to call 'Mukumlung' locally.
Despite protests, FNCCI President Chandra Dhakal has been constructing the Pathibhara Cable Car, emphasizing that it will be a significant milestone for the development and prosperity of the Taplejung district.
